Barbara Adams, age 89, died with her loving family around her on August 20, 2022, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, Ga. A native of Cartersville, she lived in Marietta most of her life, where she worked and owned a home. Barbara graduated from Cartersville High School in 1951 and remained friends with her fellow classmates. She was born March 11, 1933, in Lexington, KY. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Mae and E. N. Hightower, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Joyce Adams. She is survived by her sister Joan Karam (Tom), 4 nephews, David, Drew, and Adam Shellhorse, Mike Adams and their families, and a niece, Laura Shellhorse. Barbara loved working in her yard, reading, cooking, and working on crossword puzzles. But her greatest love was for her dog. If you wish to honor Barbara, please donate to an animal charity of your choice. Barbara's legacy to her family was her "don't quit" attitude. Born during the great depression, she went to work at 18 and supported herself the rest of her life. She was fun, leading our daddy to chuckle and say often, "Butch (his nickname for her) they broke the mold after you were born." Now she's gone to heaven, and we're just left here, missing her. A private graveside service will be conducted for the family at Oak Hill Cemetery. But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Cor. 2:9
