Dee R. Richardson

Dee Robertson Fowler Richardson, died December 14, 2022 in her adopted State of Georgia. She was only 71 years old. Her three favorite words were PEACE, LOVE and JOY. Dee’s entire circle of love is deeply saddened by her passing. Born on October 5th, 1951. Dee’s exuberant spirit, boundless energy, distinct intellect, sharp wit, enterprising nature and joyful essence will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Dee is survived and grieved by her enormous family and countless friends; her loving husband, of 13 years, Wayne Richardson; her first husband, Russ (Anita Lindsley) Fowler, and her most beloved, her children, Joel (Michelle) Fowler and Alison (Jason) Haynes who, along with her grandchildren, were the center of her grateful spirit. Dee will be forever cherished and remembered by her four grandchildren, Henley, Hudson, newly born Hollis Haynes and William Yee-Fowler.  Her memory will be revered by Wayne’s son, Tony (Lisa) Richardson, his daughter, Sommer (Scott) Robich, and grandchildren Andrew, Lauren and Katelin Richardson, Tyland and Grant Robich and great-grandchild, Raelynn Busby.

Dee’s memory lives on with her sister, Antonet (Michael) Woods(of Appleton, Wisconsin) and her niece and nephews, Andrea (Woods) Phillips, Aaron Woods and Jerrod Woods and their children, her many grand nieces and nephews. Many cousins from Missouri also grieve her departure from Earthly existence.

Dee was predeceased by her father Anthony Wayne Roberston and her mother Dormilee Virginia Robertson Kaminski.

Dee was born in North Kansas City, Missouri where she lived until moving to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area as a teenager. Dee spent many years living in Milwaukee and loved the city and its vibrant arts culture, proximity to Lake Michigan and the nearby City of Chicago. Dee moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1978 to advance her career in box office management. There, she settled, married and raised her family taking full advantage of the southern lifestyle.

Her children were everything to her and Dee made many personal sacrifices throughout their childhood to ensure their health, welfare, safety and education. With Dee at the helm, there was plenty of everything, especially fun. She created many memories supporting the kids in their artistic and athletic pursuits. Dee planned family vacations with gusto. Together the family (and friends) took many adventures to nearby mountains and beach resorts with Jekyll Island being her favorite. To say that Dee loved the beach is an understatement.

Dee was a consummate fashionista and loved her wardrobe. Her ability to style herself and others was venerable. Dee made an art of shopping and lunching. Dee had a passion for theater and music, especially Rock and Roll. She would always be sure to see the latest award winning plays whether in Chicago, Atlanta or New York. Dee attended hundreds of concerts, always making each show an event complete with special outfits, pre-show activities, great seats, backstage hijinks and after parties. But the events Dee created on her own, celebrations of all kinds, her at-home performances, singing and dance parties were legendary.

Dee was well known in the arts circles. Besides being a patron, Dee made her career in the Arts. Dee’s career in theater box office included tenure at the Milwaukee Performing Arts Center, the Pabst Theater (Milwaukee, Wisconsin).  Atlanta’s Fox Theater, the Omni, TicketMaster and the Atlanta Ballet. Her efforts extended beyond work with her many philanthropic efforts including her brainchild, Tickets for Kids, an endeavor that put unused tickets to theater, music and sporting events into the hands of underprivileged children.

Dee took great pride in her home and was a consummate interior decorator. Every room of every place she ever lived was furnished and colorfully decorated into a comfortable and welcoming, fun space. Outdoors, Dee always grew and cared for her gardens with enormous delight. The annual planning, planting, sprouting, care for and ultimate blossoming were celebrated events with progress being noted and recognized along the way.

Dee was never afraid to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. She had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to her positive energy. Dee always made time to help others and took pleasure in being able to do so. Dee had an enormous and grateful heart which came from her strong sense of spirituality and belief that good will always prevail.

Dee’s legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our destiny and that happiness is a choice. All are welcome to join in the celebration of Dee Robertson Fowler Richardson to be held Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Art and Jake’s Restaurant, 510 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan, Georgia.

A Beachside Blessing will be held at 4:00 PM, February 18th, 2023 at Grayton Beach State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Dee’s ashes will be scattered into the ocean, as she wished, followed by dinner and joyful remembrance at The Bay Restaurant, 24215 Hwy. 331 South, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
