Elizabeth Battin Monasterski, 61, of Roswell, Ga., passed away peacefully on May 8, 2021, following a brief illness. Elizabeth was born on May 19, 1959, in West Chester, PA to parents Wayne L. Battin, III and Mary Wickersham Battin. She graduated salutatorian in 1977 from Unionville High School, where she was involved in several musical organizations, theatre, and lacrosse. Elizabeth continued her studies at Bucknell University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics. At Bucknell, Elizabeth continued her love of music with involvement in Bison Marching Band, Chapel Choir, and University Chorale. Additionally, she co-authored an addendum to the History of Bucknell University, which is still held in the university's archives. While at Bucknell in 1979, she met her life-long partner, S. Raymond (Ray) Monasterski, Jr., whom she married in 1984. Elizabeth and her husband moved to the Atlanta area in 1987, where she was actively involved in her community, including the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta, Girls, Inc., and Must Ministries' Elizabeth Inn for homeless/abused women, and the Catholic Church of St. Ann. She remained active in Bucknell's alumni associations, including serving as reunion co-chair of her 15th reunion and as an alumni admissions representative. In 1994, Elizabeth and Ray welcomed into the world their one son, S. Raymond Monasterski, III. Elizabeth was a loving participant in her son's upbringing, including her involvement in the PTA at Garrison Mill Elementary and Mabry Middle Schools in Marietta, GA. She was an avid supporter of the sports and arts programs at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta and enjoyed cheering on her son and the football team at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Ray, son, Raymond, and his fiancee, Megan Axelrod, along with many cherished friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Must Ministries in Marietta, GA (https://www.mustministries.org/give-help) or to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA (https://longwoodgardens.org/support/honor-and-memorial-gifts). Her family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at Heritage Hospice, Marietta, GA for providing comfort and peace to Elizabeth during her final days.
