Evelyn Rebecca Self

Mrs. Evelyn Rebecca Self, age 80, of Rome, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Seven Hills Place Memory Care Community.

Mrs. Self was born in Rome, GA, on March 28, 1943, daughter of the late Donald and Nellie Rogers. Mrs. Self graduated from Johnson High School in 1961. After high school, she attended Cosmetology School and owned her own salon, Parlor of Beauty in Rome, GA. She was also co-owner with her husband, Andrew, of Discount Jewelers in Rome, GA. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was very active and served alongside her husband as a deacon.

She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Glenn (Jack) of Williamson, GA, and Vivian Durham (Johnnie) of Arab, AL, one grandchild, Emily Self (Rome), and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Andrew G Self, and only child, Andrew “Andy” D. Self.

Visitation and a Family Memorial Service for Evelyn, Andrew and Andy will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 2293 Calhoun Road, Rome, on Sunday, January 14, 2023, at 1 pm. The Rev. Justin Silver will officiate.
