Gwendolyn Darnell Brookshire

Gwendolyn Darnell Gravley Brookshire, 68, of Acworth, GA passed away on February 5, 2021 at 9:26 PM in Cherokee County, GA. She passed due to complications from COVID-19. Gwen was born on June 08, 1952 in Marietta, GA to Vera Post Gravley and John “Bud” Thomas Gravley. She was nicknamed “Skinny” by her father at a young age. She married Alton Lee Brookshire on December 26, 1969. She was a loving wife, mama, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was beautiful, kind, smart, brave, courageous and caring. She was of Christian faith and loved God. She loved the outdoors where she could plant flowers and trees. She was always taking care of others and freely giving anyone food, a moment of her time, or assistance. Anytime you visited her, she always wanted you to leave with something. She loved her family and always wanted the best for everyone. She made the BEST chicken and dressing that she always shared with others. She was greatly LOVED and will be missed. She is now with God and the Angels are singing her praises. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Glen Gravley, Carl Gravley and her sister, Gloria Gail Gravley. Gwen is survived by her loving husband, Alton Brookshire, daughter, Debbie Goodner; son, Donald Brookshire and daughter-in-law Deborah Mixson-Brookshire; mother, Vera Gravley; sisters, Cindy Chastain and Charlotte Johnston; brothers, Doyle Gravley and Clinton Gravley and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 2 PM at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in Acworth, Georgia. Leaf Cremation is handling arrangements.
