Mary Theresa Mcfarland

Mary Theresa McFarland, “Marilee”, 86 of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on August 13, 2021 after a long battle with leukemia. A funeral service will be held on September 23, 2021 at 11 AM at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Blue Ridge Georgia. Marilee was born on April 4, 1935 in New York City, New York. She spent her childhood and early adulthood living in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania before moving to Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was married on March 3, 1955 to Glenn Mcfarland. They were married for 66 years-until her death. Marilee was a stay at home mom for many years but as her children grew up she returned to school and became a phlebotomist. She was then employed by the state of New Jersey working at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey before retiring in 2000. Marilee is survived by her husband Glenn, her children; Patty Ramos (Larry)of Murphy NC, Colleen Smela (Doug) of Jim Thorpe, PA, Margaret Evans (Zulma)of Blue Ridge, GA, Tara McFarland (Adam) of Bronx, NY, and Arwen McFarland of Blue Ridge, GA. She is also survived by her siblings Nancy Mason, Sarah Solt, and John Bernhard all of Jim Thorpe, PA. Marilee is preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Milford Bernhard of Jim Thorpe, PA, and her beloved son Glenn McFarland of Phillipsburg, NJ. In lieu of flowers Marilee’s family is requesting donations be made in her name to the Montclair Township Animal Shelter in Montclair, NJ at www.fomtasnj.org.
