Robert Alexander Mcintosh

Robert Alexander McIntosh, 52, of Rome, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Robert was born on December 22, 1967, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. His family moved to Brandon, Mississippi, where he spent his childhood and graduated from Brandon High School in 1986. Robert went on to further his education at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. Throughout his middle school and high school years he was a dedicated teammate in all athletics he was involved in. Robert even received the most treasured award of the BHS Football team during his senior year, "Toughest SOB That Ever Lived." He always set the bar high for others in how committed he was to each team he was a part of. During college Robert began his 10 year career in youth ministry, where he started and ran the most successful Youth for Christ Campus Life Club at Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi. He then accepted the Director of Youth Ministries position at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Brandon, Mississippi, while still attending Belhaven. A few years later he accepted the Director of Youth Ministries position at First Presbyterian Church in Rome, Georgia. After leaving Youth Ministry God opened the door for Robert to use his speaking and teaching talents to become the founder of a very successful computer training business, Covenant Solutions, in Rome, Georgia, for 14 years. Later he worked at OTR/Green Carbon in Rome, Georgia, as Vice President of New Products. Finally ending his career as a Senior Systems Engineer at Checkpoint Security Software in Atlanta, Georgia. Robert had a heart of gold, full of compassion, kindness, and generosity. He lived life large and put everything he had into all that he did. When he "was on" he was the best of the best and always went above and beyond what was put in front of him, no matter how big or small. Robert also had a way of being able to reach those that seemed unreachable. God had gifted him with so many talents and the impact he had on so many lives was incredible. He could engage a crowd in a way that no one else could with his dynamic personality, but was also the best listener with very insightful thoughts or advice when meeting with someone one on one. Of course, on the other hand, Robert would always have a story to tell, which might be a bit exaggerated but could entertain like no other. To say Robert will be missed is an understatement. Although his death is tragic because it was sudden and unexpected, his family is comforted knowing that Robert is home in the presence of his heavenly Father. Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Maurine Hopkins McIntosh, and his grandparents, R.E. McIntosh, Edna and Roy Allen, and Kittie Mae and Earl Hopkins, and his nephew, Roy Robinson. Robert is survived by his three daughters, Alex Terry and Lea McIntosh of Rome, Georgia, and Mauri McIntosh of San Francisco, California; the mother of his children and wife of 25 years, Shannon Parman McIntosh of Rome Georgia; and their grandson, Roman Terry. Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Ed and Carol Ann McIntosh of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Lee Ann Robinson(Tim) of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Lucretia McIntosh of Brandon, Mississippi; and brother, Hoppy McIntosh, of Noxapater, Mississippi. Nieces and Nephew, Tara Creel, Felicia Young, Kennedy Briggs, Rachel Prestridge, Hope Robinson, Matt Robinson also survive along with two great nephews, one great niece, an aunt, and several cousins, as well as many special friends. A celebration of Robert's life will be held Friday, November 6, 2020, at 2:00pm(eastern) at The Lakehouse Beach @ Taylor Estate, 495 Minshew Road NE, Rome, Georgia, 30161. Longtime friend, the Rev. Dr. Rhett Payne of First Presbyterian Church of Meridian, Mississippi, will be officiating the service. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required. The service will be available on livestream via Facebook for family and friends who are unable to attend due to health or travel reasons. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the memorial fund set up for Robert's children, created by special friends, that will be available on Robert's Facebook page.
