Salina Fachelle Hawkins Sullivan marched to the beat of her own drum—and oh what a beat it was! She was born to Frank Lewis Hawkins and Martha Ann Mason on March 6, 1968, at Crawford Long Hospital, in Atlanta GA. The youngest of three girls, Salina shared a special relationship with her mother; they were like two peas in a pod! As a child, she was affectionately called Bookie by those close to her, and as she aged, some simply called her Sina. She was fond of her unique middle name, Fachelle, and many of her close friends called her ‘Salina Fachelle’. Salina and her family resided in the Roswell, GA area. Salina has always been a very bright and independent thinker. As a child, she was measured as a genius on an IQ exam. Her love for music began at an early age. She played first-chair on the flute, she loved to dance, and she spent her best days driving her father’s vintage 1984 Lincoln Town car from which she would blast her “old school” and country music for all to hear. Salina didn’t just play or listen to music—she loved to dance. She just might have inherited a dancing gene from her parents who were known for their jitterbug prowess! Music was a close second to Salina’s first love—nature! She loved the water, trips to the beach, and she most importantly loved her pets. At the time of her death, she had two Alaskan Malamutes, Sampson and Sheena, and two cats, Lester and Lily. Although she didn’t have children of her own, anyone who knew her knew that her pets were truly her babies! Those animals led a blessed life and are still being well cared for by one of her life-long loyal friends. Salina’s creativity is unparalleled. She channeled her passion for creativity and her desire to be the embodiment of encouragement into a life-long career in the cosmetology industry. She worked tirelessly to help others feel good about themselves and even gave freely of her services when some of her dear clients were having hard times. Over the span of her 20+ year career, she made many dear friends that are devastated at her passing. Salina loved living life to the fullest and when she married her best friend, Tom, on the beach on September 14, 2012, she had a partner for life to enjoy it with. Together, the two were known for their quirky sense of humor and their spirit of hospitality. If you were with Tom and Salina, you were bound to have a good time whether it was sharing a good meal or enjoying the sun at one of their famous pool parties. Tom and Salina loved to share the fruits of their labor with their family and friends. Outside of her relationship with Tom, the most important decision Salina made was to dedicate her life to Jehovah God; and to continue their partnership, Tom and Salina were baptized together at the Conyers Assembly Hall in 2017. This decision allowed Salina’s heart to grow even wider because she had a new spiritual family to love and be loved by. Salina’s death has brought about a pain that is hard to verbalize. Her free spirit demeanor and her down-to-earth personality will be sorely missed. She is survived by her sister Freda Witherspoon (husband: Wes Witherspoon) and nephew Glenn Church, Jr. (wife: Holly, daughter: India, son: Tristan), and a host of relatives and close friends.
