Virginia Leigh Abernathy

Virginia “Ginny” Leigh Abernathy, 54, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on February 27th, 2022. She was born on February 10, 1968 in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Cartersville High School in 1986. Ginny was a lifelong resident of Cartersville, Georgia. She was a gifted musician who played multiple instruments and a talented vocalist. She was an animal lover and had a passion for rescuing animals in need. She is survived by her loving Mother, Vivian Johnsey Greene; her son, Jackson Abernathy; her brother Tim (Lora) Greene and 3 nephews, of Rye, New York; her sister Tracy (Anthony) Myers of San Antonio, Texas and her longtime companion in life, Glynn Thompson. 

 She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Abernathy; her grandparents T.E. and Grace Johnsey and Roy and Lillian Abernathy and stepfather, Ron Greene. 
 A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Kevin Lobello of Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church which will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville, Georgia on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
