Alice Abby Hartsel

Alice “Abby” Harstel (Green) passed away on November 20th, 2024. She was born at Wooster Community Hospital on September 21st, 1967 to the late Albert Arthur Green and the late Ruth Marie Green (Messner). Abby is preceded in death by her mother, father, the father of her children (Harold “Duane” Gelhausen) and first grandchild, Amari.  

In her daughter’s adolescence, she recalls Abby’s love for tending to her garden. She easily made friends and knew few strangers. Prior to Abby’s death she was receiving recovery treatment from Highland River Behavioral Health. 

Abby is survived by her two children, Albert (Jason) Harkness (Gelhausen) and Alicia (Stephen) Nierste (Green). Abby’s first born grandchild was born April 2024, Aurora. Abby is also survived by her six siblings; Mary, Peggy, Judy, Ella, Jeff, and Gilbert. 

At this time the family will not be holding an immediate memorial service. A service may be scheduled to take place in Ohio for January 2025.
