Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Antoine Laurent Pierre Gentillon, 80, of Kennesaw, GA, died after a brief illness on January 22, 2024.
He was born in Aux Cayes, Haiti in 1943 to Antonio Gentillon and Marie France Lundy. Antoine spent his youth and young adulthood in Haiti, where he married and had four children. He worked for the Haitian government in Port Au Prince before moving to New York City in 1986. Antoine lived in Brooklyn for many years before relocating to Georgia in 2008.
Antoine was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Marie, and his brother Serge Jean-Pierre. He is survived by his children Wency (Raniesia) Gentillon, Jean (Stephanie) Gentillon, Marie (Vax) Payton and Nehemie (Damy) Akinlade, his grandchildren Tanhay, Aaliyah, Nya, Cahleel, Kiana, Destin, Najiyah, Eza, and Aky, his great-grandchildren Amelia, Kailan and Caleb, sisters Magalie (Daniel) Prophete and Najah Marlene Desgrotte, brothers Gerald Lundy and Robert (Anne-Marie) Lundy, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Yveta (Fito), who he remained friends with.
Antoine leaves behind many friends, including Andre Brutus, Jean Damour, Jean Liotaud, Pastor Jean Delto Celin, Pastor Max Louis-Saint, Pastor Alexandra Vernet Louis-Saint, and Marie Jocelyne Moscary.
Antoine will always be remembered for the love and joy he brought to all who crossed his path and his passion for Haitian politics. We will miss Antoine every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Details for a memorial service in Georgia to celebrate Antoine's life will be announced once finalized. Please check back for updates on the date, time and location. A private family service will be held in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Haitian Health Foundation in Antoine's memory.
