Arnold Lewis Mobley, age 77 of Lawrenceville, GA passed away in the early
morning of January 21, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Arnold was born in
Augusta, GA on September 13, 1945, the youngest child of Janie Mae Smith Anderson
and Leroy Mobley. In March 1948, when Arnold was just two years old, he, his mother
Janie Mae, and his older sister Louise, all moved to Miami, FL, when his mother married
his stepfather, Matthew Grimes. Arnold spent most of his life in Miami's Liberty City,
with the exception of the time he spent in Orlando, and Tampa, during his career in the
TV news industry as a reporter, photographer, and very gifted videographer. It was his
work as a videographer, and his coverage of the Ted Bundy trial with WTVJ-Miami in
1979, that earned him a regional Emmy award.
During his lifetime, Arnold had three wives, Mary (Jones) Donato, whom he'd
known since they'd attended high school at Miami Northwestern High School, Michael
Giddings Kenney, of St.Petersburg, and Wanda Reese, of Detroit, MI, the latter of these
unions produced Arnold's only child, Samantha, in 1984. His love story with his first
wife, Mary carried on throughout the years, with their love for one another always
bringing them back to one another, over the course of their lives. Arnold was preceded in
death by his parents, older sister Louise, older brother Willie James Mobley of Augusta,
GA and his stepfather, Matthew Grimes. He is survived by his only daughter, Samantha
(DeMarr) Reese, of Los Angeles, CA, and his lifelong companion, Mary. In 2012, Arnold
returned to Georgia, and was joined by his mother Janie Mae, in 2013, where they both
spent their final years.
Per Arnold's request, remains were immediately cremated, courtesy of Least cremation
services of Acworth, GA, and there will be no funeral services.
