Barbara Jean Stewart

Barbara Jean Stewart, 84, of Dunwoody, Georgia passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday, December 10th. Barbara was born October 11, 1939, to Almedia and William Veatch in LaFayette, Georgia. Being the last of thirteen children, Barbara is blessed with a large family. Her husband of 47 years, Quentin Stewart, went on before her in June 2008 and her son Scott in November 1972.

She is survived by her son Paul Stewart, wife Jenny, their children Chris and Rachel along with her daughter Cindy Stewart Grubb, Cindy’s daughter Allison Quinne Kane, son in law Dalton, daughter Lucy Grubb along with a bunch of grand dogs and cats.

Barbara graduated from Mercer University with a nursing degree in 1961. She retired in 1998 from a successful 37-year nursing career including roles as a nurse educator, IV therapist and leadership positions throughout. She took pleasure in hosting big family meals, maintaining her home and yard and decorating to the extreme for every holiday. In her high school and college days, she sang in trios, played piano and basketball and is a huge Duke basketball and Georgia football fan.

Barbara was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend offering wisdom and support until the day she went to live with Jesus. Her legacy lives on in those she touched throughout her life. Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Dunwoody Baptist Church 1445 Mt Vernon Rd. Dunwoody, GA. 30338 on Saturday December 16, 2023. Visitation at 2 pm and Celebration of Life at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Naomi Ministry of Dunwoody Baptist Church.
