Barbara S. Austin

Barbara Austin, 72 of Acworth, GA passed away Monday, May 24, 2021 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, GA. Born in Wheeling, WVA to Vincent and Marjorie(Robert’s) Zanke. She was the widow of late Irvin Austin. Barbara was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, WVA and pursued her post graduate studies in Divinity from Liberty University. She served as a lay minister in the church prior to limitations from multiple sclerosis. Barbara was also a decorated police officer, serving the greater Atlanta area for 12 years. She later worked in loss prevention for multiple companies. Survivors include her son, Robert M. Austin (Angela) of Acworth, GA; 3 granddaughters Olivia, Natalie, and Joanna who dearly loved their “Mammie”, two daughters, Elizabeth A. Vardi of Chaplin, SC; 2 grand children Nadia and Isaac. Melinda Ward(Michael) of Bogart, GA; 3 grandchildren Patrick, Jacob, and Matthew. And her sister, Robin Crain(Joe) of Stanford, KY. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Marc Zanke and Scott Zanke. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to celebrate Barbara’s life. Donations may be given in her memory to the National Multiple sclerosis Society at Nationalmssociety.org in lieu of flowers.
