February 16, 1956 — February 26, 2023

Barney Lee Bradwell, 67, of Kennesaw, GA, died at home on Sunday, February 26, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is now free and in the loving arms of his Father in heaven.

Barney was born February 16, 1956, in Norfolk, VA, the fourth of five children born to Fred and Azalea Bradwell. Though born with a cognitive disability, he was able to complete high school classes and graduate from M.B. Smiley High School in Houston, TX. He was employed as a custodial employee for National Oilwell Varco (NOV) in Houston, TX for 40 years. He enjoyed raising homing pigeons, playing pool, bowling, strumming his guitar, singing, watching his favorite TV shows and sports teams: the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, and recently the Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed doing activities with his great nieces and nephews, but especially enjoyed the companionship of Freddie, his loving sister and caregiver for the past 5 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Azalea Bradwell, his brothers, Richard Bradwell and Fred Bradwell, III (Butch), and great nephew, Matthew Holmes. He is survived by his loving sisters, Brenda (Frank) Heard of Winchendon, MA, and Freddie Gower of Kennesaw, GA; Nieces, Erin Holmes and Amanda Wilkinson; Nephews, Frank Heard, Jr. and Nathan Gower, as well as 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews.

The family is especially grateful to Carolyn Goggins, Barney’s hospice nurse who provided compassionate care to Barney during the last 11 months.

Barney was loved very much and will be missed very much.
