There will also be a Military funeral service with full honors on January 21, 2022, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 1 pm. Bennie Reeves, Jr. was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 22, 1966, while his father was stationed in Korea. He graduated from Wayne High School in January 1984, enlisting in the U.S. Army upon graduation. Bennie received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix and his Master’s degree from Kaplan University. Bennie was married to Jolene Marie (Gieske) Reeves on April 18, 2003; they were married 18 ½ years. Bennie was proud to have served his country (Active Duty and National Guard) for 22 years. He served two tours in Germany and always wanted to take his family there on vacation as he loved his time in Germany. When Bennie was stationed in Hawaii, he earned his Private Pilot license that he kept current for 25 years, having flown the week before he was hospitalized. Flying was his passion in life. He loved sharing his passion with anyone that was interested and his love of airplanes never waivered from the time he was a child growing up on Air Force bases. Bennie worked at the Veteran’s Administration since 2006. He always worked hard to help all Veterans understand their benefits and how to get the help they needed. Bennie can best be remembered for his sense of humor and his “martian” characters. He brought many laughs to otherwise stressful situations and was a great comic relief to many. Bennie is survived by his spouse Jolene Reeves, daughters Emelia “Emma” Reeves and Allyson “Ally” Reeves, Mother Pilar Reeves, Sisters Maria Belinda Reeves Thornton, (William) and Yolanda Reeves, nieces Brooke Thornton and Lauren Thornton, and other family and friends. Bennie is preceded in death by his father, Bennie Reeves. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Wright-Patterson Airforce Base Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Donations can be received online at https://www.afmuseum.com/givenow or mailed to Air Force Museum Foundation, 1100 Spaatz Street, PO BOX 1903, WPAFB, OH 45433. The WPAFB Museum was Bennie’s favorite place to visit since he was a young child. A service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Friday, 01/21/2022 @ 1 pm with full military honors.
