Bessie Mae West

January 1, 1948 — March 21, 2023

Bessie Mae West was born on January 1st, 1948 to Robert West and Wille Mae Sanford in Milledgeville, Georgia.

As the youngest of 12 kids, she had an ear for music, she loved the sounds of doo-wop, swing, and rhythm and blues.

As our Beloved Mother grew up, she yearned for a different type of life outside of Milledgeville. Therefore, she traveled to New Jersey and stayed with her oldest sister Catherine where she learned about different cultures, ethnicities, and her first love, music.

Years later, she brought into the world, her oldest child and only daughter, Ramona West, and five years later, she would give birth to her oldest son, Michael West.

After going back and forth between New Jersey and Milledgeville for almost half a decade, she decided to go back home, and live out her remaining years in Georgia.

As years passed, she gave birth to another son, Roberto West, and ten years later, she brought into the world her youngest and last child, Aaron West.

Our Beloved Mother was a breath of fresh air, she was always willing to help out anyone in time of need when she could. She was seen by others as a free spirit, full of joy, love, and quick to embrace people no matter how different people perceived them in society, our mother was special in that way.

Our Beloved Mother always wanted the best for her kids, with the little she had, she always found a way to turn a dollar into five dollars, and she would never take no for an answer.

She left us to soon in life on March 21, 2023 at 8:19am in the morning. She leaves behind four children, Ramona, Michael, Roberto, and Aaron West, her two grandchildren Mckaelyn and Brandon West, two last living siblings Aunt Lillian and Aunt Mattie and host of family members and friends. And not forget her niece Barbara and Barbara's son Raymond who recently passed away.

In closing, our Beloved Mother will be missed by all she touched, and we, "the West kids" will continue to remember her kindness, her generosity, and her willingness to never give in. May God open his heavenly gates and bring our Beloved Mother peace and tranquility. We love you Mom.
