Beloved Mom, Wife and Foster-Mom to many, Bette Lynne (Jones) Waggoner, 74, of Temple, Georgia went to be with God on March 20th, 2025.
She was born on January 26th, 1951, NAS North Island Coronado, California and was the daughter of the late Bette Jean Ellison and Charles Eugene Holland.
She Graduated from Imperial Beach's Mar Vista High School in 1969 with perfect attendance, where her grandfather had re-settled the family in the 1940s.
Lynne was preceded in death by her sister Corrine Renee Harrod of Imperial Beach, California and her brother Mark Laymon Jones of Tampa, Florida.
In her early years, Lynne loved decorating cakes as well as various arts and crafts. She was extremely good at it, I might add. Oh, and although she probably lost money on every cake she ever made, she didn't do it for the money. In typical Mom fashion she was always looking to put a smile on the faces around her and that she did. She made some of the most amazing wedding and birthday cakes over the years. It used to drive her crazy that I hated frosting, so it was difficult for her to make me birthday cakes. The last one I remember was a NASCAR cake, but the deal was she had to understand if I was going to eat it, I would not eat the frosting. Let me tell you, that was one cool ass cake, and I was so proud to show all my friends!
Mom loved nothing more than to spoil children! She has left such a huge impact on all that she touched through the years! Over the course of less than 15 years she took over 40 foster children before adopting Priscilla. I swear if she could have adopted all of them, she probably would have. She made profound and loving impacts on an assortment of nieces, nephews and cousins as well.
In Lynne's later years she found great enjoyment from making grab bags to sell at the Flea Market which she literally spent hours and hours shopping for supplies because the smiles on the children's faces made it all worth it. I bet she never made one dime of profit over the many years she did this, but it didn't matter at all to her because all she needed was to make children happy. Happy children were her treasures.
She spent many years working as a waitress for the iconic Hotel Del Coronado, where she was one of most loved and respected on the staff. She was once chosen from all the Hotel's employees to be the one employee to meet and shake the President of The United States hand. It was a great honor.
She was the most loving wife and mother. Unfortunately, I was unable to give her biological grandchildren. Still, I am grateful that my beloved stepdaughters Natalie and Samantha and stepson Lucas were all able to at least spend a small amount of time with Mom, as well as Karina, my fiancé.
The world is not going to be the same without her in it!
Immediate surviving family members include her son Brian Lyle Waggoner of Gainesville, Georgia, Husband Robert Lyle Waggoner of Temple, Georgia and daughter Priscilla Lynne Waggoner of Temple, Georgia
There will not be a traditional service, but I do plan to have a Celebration of Life at some point so if you are interested in attending, please leave a message in the guest book with contact information so I can inform you once I decide on the details
Thank you all for loving my mother and taking the time to read this!
If you wish to have memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her memory.
