Bettie Ann Skaggs

Bettie Ann Kohl Skaggs, 93, died in hospice care in Marietta, Georgia on February 5, 2022, of natural causes. Bettie Ann was born on October 22, 1928, in Louisville, Kentucky. The only child of Florence and Edwin Kohl, she graduated from Presentation Academy in 1946. That same year, she married Larry Lee Skaggs of Louisville. They moved to Atlanta in 1959. Bettie had an innate appreciation of and talent for art. As an animal lover, she was rarely without a pet dog, cat, bird, horse, or even a squirrel. Bettie was a sales associate at Rich’s Perimeter in the 1970’s and 80’s. A lifelong devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of the Cathedral of Christ the King, Our Lady of the Assumption, and Holy Spirit Catholic Churches in Atlanta. Bettie Ann is survived by her children Karen Lee Skaggs Campbell and Lawrence Leigh Skaggs (David Nale); by her granddaughter, Leigh-Ann Campbell (Kirk) and her great-granddaughter, Laurel Kathryn. Bettie was pre-deceased by her former husband, Larry Skaggs, and her daughter Kathryn Ann Skaggs. A funeral Mass and interment of ashes is planned for 11 AM on April 23, 2022 at St. Mary's Chapel at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30327.
