Charles Edward “Pop” Mims. February 26, 1942 – April 5, 2021. Charles Mims, 79, of Woodstock, Georgia, succumbed to cancer in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loved ones on April 5, 2021. Pop was born February 26, 1942, in Wetumpka, Alabama to Zeb and Inez Mims. One of eight boys, Pop didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped his family by working any odd jobs he could find at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family are the two characteristics that carried him through life. Pop passed away due to cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Pop managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. In his final days he was surrounded by his family who he adored more than anything else in the world. Pop worked hard all his life, and fiercely loved his family and friends. He loved Western movies, casinos, and pretty women. He was a supportive father and grandfather, and a friend to everyone. He always made sure that no matter how hard times were that everyone he cared about had a warm meal and a safe place to lay their head. Pop was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. His knowledge and guidance were the foundations of his family. Family came first and was above all else to Pop, a value he instilled in all those around him. Pop was one of the strongest men to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have him as the head of the family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by him. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Mims, daughter Chere Mims, his parents, and five brothers. Pop will be lovingly remembered by his surviving children, Debi, Michael, and April; stepchildren John and Wayne; grandchildren, Chere, Michael, Chase, Jesse, John, Megan, Ansley, Madison, and Collin; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends. To honor his wishes, all services are private.
