Charles Edward Morris

On Friday, April 24, 2020, Charles Edward Morris passed away at the age of 65 in Rome, Georgia. Charles was born on October 8, 1954 in Northampton County, Virginia, to Beatrice and Clarence Morris. Charles was educated in the Northampton County Public Schools, where he played the trumpet in the marching band. After high school, he moved to Connecticut, where he worked for Nestle Distribution for many years. He later moved to Nassawadox, VA to be near his family. There, he worked for Purdue Inc. He was a devout Methodist and served on the trustee board and was named Man of the Year twice at Ebenezer A. M. E. Church in Cape Charles, VA. Charles, affectionately known as “Chuck” by friends and family, had a passion for life. He enjoyed being outdoors and cooking. He could often be found fishing, gardening, and landscaping. He rooted for the New England Patriots and loved to watch wrestling and westerns. Charles was preceded in death by his mother and father, Beatrice and Clarence Morris; his siblings, Theodus Morris, Sheila Morris, Nannie Fisher, Carolyn Graham, Cleopatra Harris, Linda Upshur, George Morris, and Harry Morris; and two nephews, Christopher Onley, and Sylvan Graham. He is survived by his son, Christopher S. Jones (Angela) of Jonesboro, GA; his daughter, Dionne L. Morris (Morris) of Acworth, GA; and his step-daughter, Charise Floyd-Pickering (Carl) of Windsor, CT; and God-daughter, Natoya Brown, VA; his granddaughters, Azerria Jones and Dazia Jones; his grandsons, Elijah Sams and Kyle Pickering; and great granddaughter, Alayah Anderson; his siblings, Christine Merritt (Henry) of Cape Charles, VA; Clarence Brooks (Lucy) of Bristol, CT; Delane Brown of Philadelphia, PA; Kevin Morris of VA; Robert Morris (Donna) of New Britain, CT; Patricia Whiting (Dean) of Killeen, TX; four aunts,an uncle,and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Always the life of the party, Charles will be sorely missed. Due to current circumstances, a celebration of Charles’s life will be held in Virginia at a future date.
