Cheryl Anne Bravo

July 10, 1963 — May 27, 2024

Cheryl Anne Bravo, 60, passed away peacefully with a beautiful smile on her face and her partner by her side on May 27, 2024 at Emory University Hospital - Bridgeway Hospice in Atlanta after a year long battle with Ovarian Cancer. Cheryl left an authentic, loving impact on everyone she touched. Her legacy of living a heart-centered life will carry on with those who had the privilege of meeting her.

She was born on July 10, 1963, in Rome, NY, the daughter of Joseph P. and June R. (Knifer) Bravo.

Cheryl attended Rome Free Academy High in Rome, NY, graduating in 1981. She then attended Herkimer County Community College where she obtained her Associates degree in Para-Legal Studies then graduated from the State University of New York, Cortland (SUNY) in 1992 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Science and Administration. Cheryl worked as a para-legal in New York before she relocated to Atlanta, GA in 1999 to work for Drew Eckl & Farnham, LLP as an Assistant Administrator of the law firm for 17 years. While still working in the law firm, in 2005, she decided to pursue her passion, healing traumas in people, and started the process of transitioning into the field of social work. She started a life coaching business Beyond Belief Consultants, LLC and earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2008. She completed her internship hours while still working at the law firm; then in 2018, she obtained her Licensed Clinical Social Worker status.

Cheryl opened her own practice, Mountainside Counseling and Recovery, LLC in Hayesville, NC. During that time, she obtained certifications in Clinical Trauma counseling, Alcohol & Drug Abuse counseling, and E.M.D.R. specializing in grief and loss, addiction and P.T.S.D. Cheryl counseled hundreds of clients with tremendous care and compassion over the years, spreading a healing light to every person she touched.

Cheryl was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer in early 2023 and continued to work with her clients, always concerned for others, until her cancer finally forced her to close her practice a few months ago. Until her transfer to Hospice in Atlanta, GA, Cheryl resided in Hayesville, NC with her partner, Anna Richardson and their dogs.

Cheryl is pre-deceased by both parents and her sister, Mary Buck. She is survived by partner, Anna Richardson, her brother Paul (Amy) Bravo of Austin, TX; brother Michael (Patricia) Buck of Oklahoma City, OK; and her brother Charles (Sandy) Buck of Cortland, NY along with 5 nieces and nephews.

At Cheryl’s request, there will be no formal service, only a small gathering of a few close friends to celebrate her life and spirituality. Additionally at her request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made on her behalf to any non-profit dog rescue, hospice organization or P.T.S.D. charity that assists military and law enforcement veterans with trauma. Cheryl’s light and love continues in service of others even after her death.
