Chester Lee Vandyke

October 25, 1950 — November 15, 2021

Chester Lee VanDyke passed from death into life and entered the joy of his Lord on November 15, 2021. He is survived by two of his sisters, Elizabeth Talley and Priscilla Halverson, his wife Koier, his son Christopher, his daughter Rachel, his daughter Rebekah Pence and her dear husband Brian, and their three sons Eli, Micah, and Noah. Lee was born in Guntersville, AL, on October 25, 1950. He graduated from Wheeler High School in Marietta and attended Emmaus Bible College in Oak Park, IL. In 1978, he was commended to full-time service in the Lord's work and moved to Camp Hope in north Hall County. He lived there with his family and served as property manager and program director for more than 20 years. He developed programs for middle school kids, budding equestrians , and homeschooled children. He led mission groups to do construction projects for the less fortunate. His passion for the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus guided all he did at Camp Hope, and thousands of children who attended there over those 20+ years had their spiritual lives in Christ enriched because of his pioneering work and self-less sacrifice. Though he never amassed earthly wealth, he knew the treasure of the love of Almighty God, the King of the universe, a wife, sons, daughters, and grandsons that loved him deeply. He often quoted a friend and mentor by saying, "The richest man in all the world surely envies me." Yachid, Daddy, Pops, you will be missed. Well done. After a private family service now, a memorial celebration will be held on January 29th at Church of the Apostles in Dawsonville. Please PM Rebekah for the address, but In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Lee with a donation to the benevolence fund at Church of the Apostles in Dawsonville or Mountain City Church in Jasper.
