Cornelia Johanna Kalb Kragt

Cornelia Johanna Kalb Kragt (known as Lia) was born on May 1, 1946 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 in her home in Acworth, GA with her family by her side.

Lia is survived by her husband Cornelis “Kees” Kalb; two daughters: Yvette Kalb and Sandy Kalb Hartle; son-in-law Earle Hartle; three grandchildren: Charlie, Savannah, and Luke Hartle, as well as her sister Adriana Johanna “Jennie” Bouwen Kragt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelis Kragt and Johanna Maria Kragt-Doedens.

Lia grew up in Rotterdam where she married her husband Cornelis “Kees” Kalb on October 2, 1969. Lia worked as a skilled secretary before becoming a mother. Together with her husband, Kees, she had two daughters, Yvette and Sandy. She was a devoted and loving stay-at-home mother and wife. In the summer of 1986 Lia and her family moved to the United States where her husband operated his shoe repair business. Lia was an animal lover, and she volunteered for Canine Assistants to help train dogs to work with the handicapped. Later Lia became a doting grandmother to two grandsons and a granddaughter. She adored her grandkids so much and played with them on their level every chance she got. She was a tender-hearted, loving person who will be missed by all who knew her.
