Dain Colin Donovan, 34, of Atlanta, GA passed away in his sleep on October 28, 2020. Dain was born on May 27, 1986, to Patrick and Karen Donovan in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The first of two children, he and his family moved to Atlanta when Dain was 7 months old. After his parents’ divorce in 2003, Dain’s mother Karen would go on to remarry in 2005, to Rick Crowley. With this marriage, in addition to his brother Casey, Dain was now older brother to three additional step-siblings—Katherine, Ashley, and Jeffrey. Dain attended Centennial High School, was self-proclaimed as someone who was an avid reader, did a lot of puzzles, electronic tinkering, singing in the choir, was fluent in French and Japanese. He was an excellent student, passing several AP classes, and graduated with distinction from high school in 2004. He went on to study International Business, minoring in accounting, at Georgia Tech and Georgia State. He worked as a barista at Starbucks while attending college, ultimately leaving to work with Teavana Corporation where he worked his way up to General Store Manager. He later enjoyed working at local restaurants in Midtown and Buckhead which allowed him to be close to his dearest friends. He lived in multiple cities within Atlanta as well as in Florida. He loved the beach, made friends wherever he went, enjoyed spending time at Piedmont park, was an excellent cook, loved trivia and knitting. Dain is preceded in death by his father, Patrick Donovan, his grandfather Robert Donovan and his grandparents Doyle and Verna “Mimi” Priest; and his aunt Terrie Brooks. Dain is survived by his mother, Karen Crowley, step-father Rick Crowley, brother Casey Donovan (Megan), step-siblings Katherine Haruch (Nate), Ashley Crowley, and Jeffrey Crowley. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Delores Donovan, uncle Bobby Brooks, aunt Kathy Donovan, and uncle Matt Donovan. Dain was a unique light to all those who knew him. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, and nephew. His vibrant personality and passion for his family and friends will be most missed. The world is a little darker without him. Dain’s life may have been cut short, but he touched the hearts of many while he was with us.
