Dallas E. Stidd, Sr. May 25, 1932 – December 29, 2020 (age 88) Dallas E. Stidd, Sr., 88, of Oakwood, GA, passed away December 29, 2020. Dallas was born on May 25, 1932, in Beallsville, Ohio, to Edmund C. Stidd and Ida Evelyn Wells. The Stidd old home place, a Revolutionary War land grant, was said to have had apple trees that were planted by Johnny Appleseed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Vida Allen Stidd, his parents, Edmund and Ida Stidd, brothers Raymond D. Stidd, David W. Stidd, Kencil Stidd, sister Virginia Stidd, and precious great-grandson Maverick Wallace Vandeford. Dallas entered the military at age 16 and served our nation with great honor in the US Army as a combat medic, decorated with a bronze star in both Korea and Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening (could grow anything!), bird watching, and bridge and bowling with his wife and friends. Prior to residing in Oakwood he was a long-time member of Summit Church and enjoyed working with the youth in various classes and missions groups. Dallas will be greatly missed by his sister Dorothy “Dot” A. Woodbery, children and their spouses, Dallas E. Stidd, Jr. (Jackie), Linda Green (Alan), Jean Vandeford (Russell), grandchildren and their spouses, Deann Peterman (Tommy), Amy Stidd (Phillip Caylor), Brianna D’Angelo (Stephen), Chase Sutherland (Maddi Esposito), Jessica Sutherland, Rusty Vandeford (Amanda), Jacob Vandeford (Sumer), Olivia Walker (Mark), and great-grandchildren, Terry Dallas, Victoria, Alexandra, Avery, Emma, Kara, Mayberry, Memphis, Maclain, Mazie, Mavis, Iris, Oliver, and Sawyer. Due to Covid 19, there will be a graveside service only with social distance and masks. The service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Corinth Cemetery in Loganville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dallas’s name to Garysinisefoundation.org.
