" David Clifton Mathis, a proud service member of the U.S Army and lifelong resident of Calhoun, GA, joined the lord on January 12th, 2024 at his home in Calhoun.
David is survived by his wife, Katherine Yvonne Mathis; his children, Rebecca Dawn Mathis and Jessica Virgnia Mathis; his grandchildren, Michael Trint Blevins, Bryson Cole Mathis, and Ava Crimson Gillilan. He is predeceased by his mother, Bertha Mae Carter; his father, Robert Clifton Mathis; his brothers, George Wiley Mathis and Curtis Wright; and his grandparents, Wiley Ross Mathis, Grace Owens, Emma Jane Caldwell, and William Harvey Carter .
David was born in Summerville, GA on January 27th, 1956 to Robert Mathis and Bertha Carter. He graduated from Coosa High school in 1975 and shortly after enlisted in the United States Army. David was a proud father, grandfather, and an avid reader. He enjoyed family time above all and always cherished the memories he made. He was a very intelligent man, who even in his late days was as sharp as a tack. He was constantly regarded as the life of the party, or someone you just enjoyed being around and talking to. This man was held in high regard by many and will be dearly missed by his friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
