David Mitchell Fontenot

David Mitchell Fontenot, 60, of Douglasville, GA , passed away on April 12,2021, at 5:15 A.M. surrounded by his loving family, after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. He was tended to by familiar medical staff members who have cared for and supported him throughout his journey with cancer at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. David was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Lee Roy Fontenot and Ruth Ann Lemoine. David was a caring husband and a proud father to two children. His desire for adventure lead him to joining the Marine Corp where he served two tours, leaving as a Staff Sergeant in the field of avionics. He later went on to work for Delta Airlines for 20 years as an Avionics Airline Mechanic and later Lockheed Martin for 12 years as Avionics Flight Line Technician. He served as the Business Administrator for Local #709 International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers as well as a member of IAMAW Georgia State Council of Machinists, where he demonstrated with his activism, his commitment, and beliefs for justice in the workplace. David was a longtime member of Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289 F&AM, as well as an honorary member of the Emerald Lodge #899 of the Grand Lodge of Ireland since 2007. He was a master of all trades and a jack of none, excelling at hobbies such as bee keeping, mycology, vintage watch restoration, gardening, magic, stage hypnosis, Win Chung martial arts, activism, entertaining, driving motorcycles, and running marathons both domestically and internationally. David Fontenot is survived by his Wife Yolanda Fontenot, his Son Jean-luc Fontenot, his Daughter Lana Fontenot, his sister Dana Mangasarian, Brother Paul Fontenot, and Brother Eric Bradshaw Jr. He is preceded in death by his Father Lee Roy Fontenot. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
