Deborah (Debbie) Gilbert Sudderth died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones, Saturday, June 6th. She was born May 6, 1949, in Pinehurst, NC, and grew up in Charlottesville, VA. She was the daughter of the late James Gilhams Gilbert and Marjorie Putman Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James Martin Sudderth. Their marriage was one of great love and devotion. On the day of their wedding, he kissed and held her in a way that the memory would last them throughout their lives. Debbie worked as a clerical assistant in a variety of professional settings. After the birth of her daughter, she treasured being a mother and homemaker. She had a great love of family, friends, her granddaughter, and her "puppies" Emma and CiCi. She showed kindness to all who knew her. She was adored by many. Debbie never forgot a single birthday or Christmas for anyone in her family and extended family. She was known as the "Santa from Atlanta". Debbie's love of family allowed her to feel most comfortable sitting on her porch talking and spending time with family and friends, playing with her puppies, or loving on her granddaughter, Saylor. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Maggie Turner (Zack) Canton, GA; granddaughter, Saylor James Turner; sister, Belinda Ticer (Newton) Acworth, GA; brother, James (Jimmy) Gilhams Gilbert Jr. (partner Tamara) Charlottesville, VA; mother-in-law Thelma Sudderth, Woodstock, GA and many other beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and many extended family members. In her memory, do a good deed, give a loved one a hug, and show compassion in your daily life. Memorial: Donations may be made to the (American Cancer Society and American Heart Association).
