Donald Stuart Harris

Donald Stuart Harris, 80, of Marietta, GA passed away at home on November 1, 2022. He was born February 23, 1942 in Alhambra, CA and was the son of Damon and Hazel Harris. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nina Harris, his two daughters, Kimberly Johnson and Casey deRijke, and his two older brothers, Lowell Harris and Ronald Harris. He was a very involved "Papa" to Blake Walker, Savanna Walker, Kirsten Walker, Rece deRijke and Brooks deRijke. Don graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1960 and then served in the Navy on the USS John R. Craig. Don loved racing motorcycles in the California desert and was a member of the Four Aces Motorcycle Club. In 1974 his job transferred his family to Georgia where he and Nina raised their girls and were very involved in their lives. He coached his daughter's softball teams and became an umpire for the NGAUA Umpire Association for over 25 years. Don was president of the NGAUA Umpire Association and won "Umpire of the Year". He will be greatly missed by friends and family, especially his best friends Gary Gudmonson, Cal Kessler and Russ Harris, his nephew. There will be no public services or funeral, the family has chosen to hold a private celebration of life.
