Dorothy Rose Holgate

Dorothy (Dotty) Messick Holgate, 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Canton, GA on July 1, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones and fur babies. Dotty’s early years were spent in Hickory, NC until her family moved to Bradenton, FL. This is where her love for the beach began. She attended Florida State University and loved playing the saxophone and piano. She spent time living in Tennessee and Georgia before moving to Texas in 1991, where she met her husband, Randy in 1999. Dotty enjoyed painting, bird watching, and Christmas shopping with Chuck. She was a certified ophthalmic technician for 25 years. She moved back to Georgia with her husband Randy in 2008 where she enjoyed retirement, grandchildren, and her fur babies. Dotty was preceded in death by Opus, Toby, Nacho, and Meg. She is survived by her husband Randy Holgate; daughters, Tracy Jouett (Jeff) and Kelly Ward (Pete); grandchildren, Alison, Spencer, Reina, Naomi, and Braedan as well as her fur babies, Casey and Bella. Dotty was very passionate about animals. In lieu of flowers please donate to Cherokee County Animal Shelter in her name.
