Douglas Evan Shearer

Douglas Evan Shearer, 66 of Acworth, Georgia went to heaven on December 23, 2019. He was born on April 8, 1953. He is the son of the late Patricia (Martin) Shearer and Douglas Shearer of Michigan. Doug proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in Viet Nam, earning the rank of Corporal. During his years of service to our country, he earned two Good Conduct Medals. Doug was an avid motorcycle rider and he also built his chopper. He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders of Georgia and the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club. In addition to riding, Doug enjoyed making models. He created meticulous models with precisely detailed landscapes. Recently, Doug was elected vice president of the International Plastic Modelers’ Society, Marietta Chapter. He won numerous awards for his models, including 1st prize at the Chattanooga Modelers Convention for his model of WALL-E. He was very admired in the modeling world and shared his knowledge with his fellow modelers. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Vicenta (Vicky) Imperial Shearer and 3 children: Gerrie M. Frank, Karen P. Clark, and Douglas C. Shearer, five grandchildren and two cats. Doug was a loving husband and a good father to his children. He will be tremendously missed.
