Edward Barnes

Edward Barnes, 88 years of age, of Epworth Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2023.

Edward, was born to Calvin and Elizabeth Barnes on August 10, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After High School, Edward enlisted in the Air Force, where he served for several years. Upon separation from the Air Force, Edward studied to be an electrical engineer at Penn State University. After graduation, Edward moved to Hillsborough, New Jersey where he was employed at Western Electric.

Edward is survived by his three children, Ed, Ellen, and Eric. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher, Kevin, Michael, and CJ, as well as great grandchildren Ryan, Abigail, and Eleanor. Edward was predeceased by his bride of 66 1/2 years, Elaine, as well as his parents Calvin and Elizabeth, his siblings Roy and Barbara, and his grandson David.

Edward loved construction and woodworking. He was always ready to help others with building projects, in addition to the numerous projects he was always working on in his own home. Edward also loved playing the harmonica, and especially enjoyed playing with the praise team at New Life Church, Blue Ridge, Georgia. Edward really enjoyed being in the company of children and young people, and for many years helped in the Church Nursery and Youth Group.

Most importantly, Edward loved the Lord, and we are comforted by the knowledge that he is rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus and Mom. Although Edward loved many scripture verses and passages, John 10:27 is one of his favorites-

“My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me”.
