Eleanor (Ellie) Pritchard Perry of Kennesaw, age 99, entered into the presence of the Lord on March 28, 2025. Eleanor was a faithful servant of the Lord, living each day by her faith in God.
Eleanor was born on September 6, 1925, at home in the Druid Hills section of Atlanta, the second of four children of Elsie Dassing Pritchard and Charles Roy (CR) Pritchard. Her three siblings were older sister Lorraine Pritchard Oschins, Roy Pritchard, and Bob Pritchard. The Pritchards relocated from Druid Hills to a farm in Mountain View, Clayton County. Ultimately, the great depression forced a move to Blakely, Georgia, to start over. She came of age in Blakley, graduating from Blakley High School at the age of 17. She obtained a two-year degree from Huntingdon College in Montgomery in 1944 and moved to Atlanta to work. Eleanor attended night school to acquire additional business skills while working for Dun & Bradstreet. Soon she took a position in the accounting section for Southern Bell while living in a rented room with a friend in Atlanta. She met her future husband, John Theodore (Ted) Perry, an aeronautical engineer, on a blind date in 1951, and they were married at St Phillips Cathedral in 1952. The couple lived in Atlanta on Peachtree Street and had their first child in 1954.
In 1956, Eleanor, Big Ted, and their first child, Teddy, moved to 75 acres outside of Kennesaw and, with God’s help, built a life centered on faith, work, and family. Eleanor stayed at home and raised three boys until 1970, when she took a position as the nighttime librarian at the new Kennesaw library. Cobb County was experiencing difficult times in the early 1970s, and to ensure she could keep her family in Georgia, Eleanor attended real estate school and became a realtor. She established a vigorous real estate career in Cobb County, working for Harry Norman Real Estate until her retirement in the early 2000s. She became a loving grandmother to six busy grandchildren and a constant, adoring support to Big Ted until his passing in 2009.
Almost 50 years ago, she and her husband, with several other faithful individuals, helped establish Christ Episcopal Church in Kennesaw. Through her prayers, service, and gifts, Christ Church continues its ministry in Kennesaw and North Cobb County. For many years, Eleanor served the Lord at Christ Church as a lay reader, assisted with finding and acquiring the church property, and was on the committee involved with the construction of the church. Her gift for hospitality and welcoming spirit touched everyone she met, setting the standard for the Christ Church community. She remained involved at church into her 90s.
She is reunited in Heaven with her husband Ted, her mother Elsie, and Father C. R. Miss Ellie, as she was known in her later years, is survived by her sons, Dr. John T. (Ted) Perry (Carlene), Charles (Chuck) R. Perry (Becky), and Donald P. Perry all who live in Georgia. In addition, Eleanor is survived by six grandchildren, Josh Perry, Dalton Perry, Sarah Perry, Alice Perry, Chase Perry, Taylor Perry, five great-grandchildren, and numerous other adoring relatives. She was always known for her faith, loyalty, intellect, wit/humor, and grace. We rejoice in the promise of her eternal life.
Eleanor’s funeral service will be on Saturday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Kennesaw, GA, with a reception to follow in the Parish hall. In place of flowers, consider a memorial donation to Christ Church in honor of Eleanor Perry.
In His light, we find comfort.
