Ernest Koon Sr, 85, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away and endured until the end of his life on 07/06/2021. He was born on 08/25/1935 in Chapin, South Carolina and was the son of the late John Adam and Lila Koon. Ernest was preceded in death by John Adam and Lila Koon, Jeremy Koon Sr, Hazel Koon, (wife of 53 years), George Merrell (son in law) and 7 brothers and sisters. Ernest Koon, Sr. was employed with CSX-Railroad for over 30 years until his retirement in 2005. He was known as a hard worker and good provider at CSX. After a study of the Bible, Ernest Koon Sr. was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 17, 1954. He served as an elder in the North Congregation in Nashville, TN for many years. He continued as an elder in the Suwanee Park Congregation in Suwanee, GA until his death. With over 67 years of service to Jehovah, he enjoyed sharing his faith with others and spending time with his fellow Christian brothers and sisters. One of the many truths he enjoyed teaching others about was the promise God made to those who fall asleep in death. That promise was the righteous and unrighteous would have a chance to be resurrected to life. Ernest also enjoyed a cup of Starbucks coffee. In fact, it was an everyday routine for Ernest and his wife, Priscilla to drive to Starbucks to purchase coffee. He was such a familiar face at Starbucks, they knew him on the first name basis and would give him his coffee for free. He enjoyed long conversations with his family and closest friends while helping others learn more about Jehovah, his God. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of over 10 years, Priscilla Koon, son Ernest Koon Jr. (Mary), daughter Glenda Koon Hill (Ray), Kimberly Furlow (Wilbert) and Nicole Jefferson (Justin Sr.). Grandchildren: Jeremy Koon, Jr, Jacque Merrell, Ian Merrell, Dionya Merrell Jones, Ashley Furlow, Justin Jefferson, Jr, Charles (Mike) Walker, Ja’Van Jefferson, great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Due to the pandemic, memorial services will be held on zoom video conferencing on July 17, 2021 @ 3:00 p.m. EST / 2:00 p.m. CST. For login information please contact our family.
