Errol Drake died November 8 in Decatur, GA, her home for the past five years. Born on August 15, 1938, in San Pedro, California, Errol would call Oahu, China, Switzerland, France, Germany, Florida, Tennessee, and Colorado home. She loved New Mexico best and lived there for 25 years. Errol was a teacher, counselor, artist, daughter, mother, wife (thrice), aunt, step-mom and grandmother. Movies, books, horses, gardening, board games, her friends, art and most of all, her dogs brought her joy. After retiring from Albuquerque Public Schools, Errol moved to Colorado before coming to Georgia to be closer to family. A talented artist in a variety of mediums, Errol worked and played in her studio to her heart’s content. Unafraid and curious, moved by beauty, she lived a long and interesting life. Her fun-loving spirit and quick laughter will be sorely missed. Errol is survived by her children: Leslie, John (Elizabeth), Drake (Susan) and Sarah (Mike), six grandchildren and Bess, her beloved Jack Russell Terrier. A celebration of Errol’s life will be held Saturday, November 16 at 3 pm at the Atlanta Friends Meeting, 701 W. Howard Avenue, Decatur, GA. Donations in Errol’s memory may be made to the Democratic politician of your choice or Defenders of Wildlife.
