Ethel C. (Carr) Carter, 79, of Acworth, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Assured Hospice Care in Cartersville, GA after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Ethel was born in Adel, GA, and graduated from Cook County High School in 1958. She lived in Lakeland, FL where she raised her 4 boys. While in FL she worked at FleetWing as a Bookkeeper. She then moved back to GA and lived in the Atlanta area. She was the Office Manager at Boot Village in Smyrna GA where she made lifelong friends and met her husband Robert Carter. In November 2001, they founded Living Hope Ministries International and were pivotal in forming a self-sufficient Orphanage in Oyugis, Kenya (Africa). The Orphanage still thrives today. Ethel was a strong Christian woman and an example of great Faith. She was a long-time member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Acworth, GA where she served her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ with her whole heart. Ethel is predeceased by her parents Thomas H. Carr and Nellie B. Carr, her husband Robert A. Carter, her brothers Leon Carr, Jack Carr, Paul Carr, and her son Timothy P. Ray. She is survived by her sister Hazel Futch, sons Billy (Wendy) Ray of Kennesaw GA, Joey Ray of Acworth GA, and Jeffrey Ray of Acworth GA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren as well as sister-in-laws Geneva Carr, Barbara Stocker, and several nieces and nephews. The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at Wildwood Baptist Church located at 4801 Wade Green Rd., Acworth, GA on January 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. In recognition of the COVID crisis, all service attendees are asked to please wear a face mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution in Ethel Carter’s name to Living Hope Ministries International, PO Box 1931, Jasper, GA 30143.
