Eugenie Claire Miller, known affectionately as Genie by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on February 5, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee, Genie led a life marked by intellectual curiosity, musical talent, and a steadfast dedication to her family and work. Genie's formative years were filled with the sounds of music and the pursuit of knowledge. Her academic journey led her to the University of Georgia, where she earned degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, a testament to her intelligence and tenacity. Prior to her time at the university, she attended Wesleyan College laying the groundwork for her future successes.
Her professional life was a reflection of her passion for science and her meticulous nature. Genie spent many years as a lab supervisor at the Coca-Cola main headquarters in Atlanta. There, she played a pivotal role in overseeing the mixing of numerous Coke products, ensuring the beloved flavors met the highest quality standards.
Beyond her contributions to the scientific community, Genie's love for music was a defining feature of her life. She played the flute with the same precision and joy she brought to her professional endeavors. From her high school band to performances in Macon, she shared stages with various family members and friends, creating harmonies that resonated well beyond the notes on the page.
Genie's legacy is carried on by a large, loving family who will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her father, George Miller of Macon, Georgia, Mary Cannon Miller of Macon, Georgia, William (Billy) Miller of Encinitas, California and her beloved cats Otis and Festus. She is survived by her sisters, Georgine (Joy) and Richard Levins of Houston, Texas , Grace and Bill Nottingham of Decatur, Georgia, Marlene and Tristan Boswell of Marietta, Georgia, Anne and Thomas Bates of Bonaire, Georgia and brothers, George, Michael (Mickey), Jerome (Jerry), and John Miller, all of Macon, Georgia, James (Jim ) Miller of Nicholson, Georgia, Joseph (Joe) and Donna Miller of Plainfield, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews. Each family member will fondly recall Genie's warmth, her sharp wit, and the unwavering support she provided to each of them. As we honor and celebrate Genie's life, we are reminded of the words of Emily Dickinson: "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." Genie's indelible impact on the world around her, her love for her family, and the melodies she crafted with her flute will continue to echo through the lives of those she touched. We bid farewell to Eugenie Claire Miller, a woman of exceptional intellect, talent, and heart. Her journey on this earth may have concluded, but the notes of her life's song will resonate in perpetuity.
Genie's life will be celebrated in a private gathering, as per her wishes. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be with them, guiding and inspiring, just as she did in life. May she rest in eternal peace and harmony.
