Frances G. Ward, a beloved figure in the Locust Grove community, known as Mrs. Frances, passed away peacefully at her home on August 17, 2024, at 98. Born in Atlanta, GA on March 1, 1926, Mrs. Frances lived a life of dedication, service, and love.

Mrs. Frances married her devoted husband, Mr. Ray Ward, in 1945 and settled their family in Locust Grove in 1964. Together, they shared 72 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Mrs. Frances became a known pillar of her small-town community, working as the City Clerk of Locust Grove for 25 years and making significant contributions to its growth and development. Her exemplary service earned her the honor of being named Locust Grove Citizen of the Year in 2003. In recognition of her impactful work, a prominent street near city hall was renamed Frances Ward Drive. Mrs. Frances's dedication to the community of Locust Grove extended beyond her professional life; she served on the city council from her appointment in 2003 until 2011, leaving a legacy of commitment and progress.

Mrs. Frances is reunited in heaven with her husband Charles Ray Ward, her brother Paul Greene, and her beloved mother and father, Burt and Mary Greene. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Greene Olver; daughters, Nancy Galloway and Pamela Rice; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild–who lovingly knew their grandmother as "Mam".

Frances G. Ward's spirit and contributions have left an indelible mark on her community and her family. She was a true woman of grace and a friend to all. Her influence of strength, kindness, and selfless service is remembered and cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
