Franklin Eugene Crummie

Franklin Eugene Crummie, 88, passed into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 19, 2023.

He was born in Thomaston, Ga., June 12, 1935, and was the son of the late Oscar & Eva Crummie.

He was preceded in death by brothers Willie & Oscar Crummie, and sister Juanita (Crummie) Short.

Eugene graduated from R.E. Lee High School in 1953. Soon after high school he married and moved to Atlanta. He went to work for the United States Postal Service, first as a clerk and then as a letter carrier. He served the public in this way for 40+ years. He enjoyed being out in God’s beautiful creation and he enjoyed serving others. His postal clients thought a lot of him and even gave him a special retirement party.

His first marriage ended in divorce, but from that marriage, he had two beautiful girls, Cynthia Lea and Kimberly Denise. He was so proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed attending pageants and recitals.

On December 31, 1971, he married Angela Williamson. They had two sons, Christopher Eugene and Patrick Gordon. Eugene enjoyed attending the boys’ ball games and traveling with his family. The family made several trips across the country as well as trips to the beach and the mountains and Disney World. In retirement, he and Angela enjoyed cruises, European travel and visiting family.

Eugene had a deep and indestructible faith which kept him going through heart surgeries, cancer surgery and many other hills and valleys. After his wife declared her decision to go into full time ministry, after retirement, he supported her completely and cheerfully. He was a devoted member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.

He is survived by wife, the Reverend Angie Crummie, sister, Irma Boor, daughters Cynthia Lea Foster, Kimberly Denise Kienholz (Randy), sons Christopher Eugene Crummie (Lisa), Patrick Gordon Crummie (Kim) nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, 11 am with reception to follow.
