George Carter Linder, a charismatic and beloved figure known for his years as a radio host and car salesman, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in Rome, Georgia. He was 72 years old.
Born on October 29, 1952, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, George’s larger-than-life personality made an impact in many communities, particularly through his work as a radio host and DJ. His smooth voice and quick wit kept listeners entertained for years across multiple Georgia radio stations in Hawkinsville and Rome. In addition to his radio career, George thrived as a car salesman, where his gift of gab earned him the admiration and loyalty of many customers.
Beyond his professional success, George was a family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family, keeping strong ties with those who had been part of his life for decades.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Downs Linder; his ex-wife, Brenda Linder; his parents, Thomas Malcom Linder and Mary Ella Linder; and his brother, Lewis Linder. He is survived by his three children, Christopher Linder (Dominica), Durand Linder (Michelle), and Mary Katherine Linder; six grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Autumn, Carly, Christian, and Ruby; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever hold his memory in their hearts. George is also survived by his eldest brother, Thomas M. Linder, Jr., and his sister, Marilyn Duncan.
In accordance with George’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. His children will honor his memory by spreading his ashes in several of his favorite places around Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a children's charity of your choice in George’s honor.
George’s infectious smile, lively spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone around him will be deeply missed.
