Gloria Jean Fitzgerald (Shepard)

Gloria Jean Fitzgerald (Shepard), age 82, of Dalton, Georgia formally of Largo, Florida passed away on Monday, November 15th,2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on Tuesday, September 26th,1939 in Charleston, WV and was the daughter of the late Hugh Jackson Shepard and Ruth Jennings Shepard. She graduated in 1964 from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV., where she received a degree in English. Ms. Fitz then began her career as an English and drama teacher at Herbert Hoover High School before moving to St. Albans High. She relocated to Seminole, FL in 1971 and taught at Azalea Middle School in St. Petersburg. Teaching at Boca Ciega, Lakewood, Seminole, and finally Pinellas Park High School. She retired after 42 years of teaching. She found great joy and personal satisfaction in investing in the lives of her students. That was her passion… (And Christmas) She is survived by her son Jack Fitzgerald, daughter-in-law Linda Fitzgerald, grandson Joshua Fitzgerald, granddaughter Nicole Fitzgerald, great-granddaughters Kayleigh Fitzgerald and Khloe Fitzgerald. She was cremated according to her wishes. A private family service will be held. God rescued my mom from the chains that bound her on Monday, November 15th at 10:48 pm. She is free!
