"Gregg Warren Smith passed away June 19, 2020 at his home in Marietta, Georgia, his loving wife, Faith, by his side, and in the company of people he loved and who loved him dearly. Gregg was born June 8, 1969 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to Barbara and Warren Smith, the oldest of three children. Gregg attended Cold Spring Harbor High School in New York, where he played various sports, including football and lacrosse. He was also on the swim team with the Lloyd Neck Bath Club in Lloyd Harbor. Gregg was a volunteer firefighter with the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department before attending Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. After moving to Florida, he attended St. Petersburg College, where he was president of the Student Government Association and made many lifelong friends. Soon after college, he went to work in the burgeoning cell phone industry. For Gregg, who was very outgoing, the opportunity to travel and meet interesting people was a good fit and he continued on this career path for over 25 years, working for companies such as Nokia, Cricket, and Vodafone. Gregg considered many of his coworkers to truly be his second family. He finished his career as Director of Strategic Accounts for Apkudo Inc. Gregg was initially diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2016. He faced it with courage and fortitude and was able to beat it. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in 2018. Gregg again suited up for battle. He fought with the strength and determination of a true warrior, bouncing back from seemingly insurmountable odds on several occasions. Even in the midst of his own pain, Gregg always kept his sense of humor. He strived to always bring a smile to others and was known for his sharp wit, bringing laughs to medical personnel, as well as family and friends, even during his hardest times. He was very open in sharing his pain and the struggles he faced daily with this disease in the hope that his story might help others. He was a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a true friend. Nothing meant more to him than the people he loved. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone he could. Gregg never met a stranger. Everyone had an opportunity to become a close friend and he held a place in his heart for each one. His greatest pride though was his children. He was so proud of each of them and would share their accomplishments with all who would listen. With all the wonderful and great experiences Gregg had in his life, he would tell you that being their father was, by far, the greatest. Gregg and Faith were still celebrating new love, having just found each other only a few years ago. Both said many times that they felt God brought them together just when each of them needed the other most. Gregg’s gentle spirit brought so much peace and joy to Faith’s life and together they simply held hands and held on, walking into the fire side by side, cherishing the other’s heart and the limited time they had together. Gregg is survived by his wife, Faith DuBose Smith; his sons, Tullin (Karleigh) Scarborough, Gabriel Smith, and Spenser Smith; his daughter, Kiden Smith; his step-children, Tarver and Brenna Zaucha, Patrick (Brittany), Kylee, and Parker Hubbard; and grandsons, Kaleb and Everett Scarborough. He is also survived by his parents, Barbara and Warren Smith; brother, Brian (Rachel) Elginsmith; and sister, Whitney (Matt) Swiesz; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews and countless family and friends who feel this loss deeply. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 10th, at 2 p.m., at Unity North Atlanta, Marietta, followed by a reception to celebrate the special man that Gregg was, the life that he lived and the lives that he touched."
