Gregory Julius Benefield

Gregory Julius Benefield, 62, of Dallas, GA formally of Muscadine, AL passed away at home on March 1, 2020. He was born June 1, 1957 in Tallapoosa, GA and was the son of the late Julius (Juke) Benefield & Margaret Whitman Benefield. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents Monroe & Already Benefield & Ruth & Tonnie Whitman. Gregory was a Marine Sergeant 1st Battalion of the 6th Marine Headquarters from August 1975 to August 1979. He was a Grading Superintendent for majority of his career. Greg was a mentor to those who listened, a man who led those willing to follow. A man who single handedly guided countless young adults into successful men. A piece of Greg remains in all who had the privilege to work for and with him. A true legend and those who were blessed with his wisdom will always carry out his legacy. Truly someone who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Shelia Shipp Benefield, son, Jospeh and his wife Kelly Benefield, Step-Daughter, Suzanne Benefield, & Stepson, Cade Shipp. A granddaughter Eldwynn Benefield. Siblings, Jackie Benefield, Sandra Nuckolls, & Judy Maxwell. A memorial service will be held March 8, 2020 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3920 Co Rd 48, Ranburne, AL 36273. The service will begin at 2pm Alabama time/3pm Georgia time.
