James Edward Sproull, Jr.

August 7, 1950 — April 9, 2023

On April 9, 2023 (Easter Sunday), James E. Sproull (Jim) passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Jim was born on August 7, 1950, in Tampa, Florida to James and Ann Sproull. He received a degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech, and then a law degree from the University of Florida. In 1973 Jim married his forever bride, Linda Rudd Sproull. Early in his legal career, he was recruited to Sun Bank (now Truist Bank). Through the years, he rose to Senior Vice President in the Atlanta headquarters of Sun Trust.

Jim had a passion for volunteering his time and talent. While continuing his banking career, for 17 years he pastored Covenant Baptist Church in Gainesville, Florida. After relocating to the Sun Trust headquarters in Atlanta, Jim continued to preach and teach Sunday school. For 11 years Jim served the National March of Dimes, first on the Board of Directors, then as President and spokesperson. And until his later years, he managed a pretty good golf game!

Jim is survived by Linda, his wife and faithful caregiver. A memorial service will be held at Dunwoody Baptist Church located at 1445 Mt. Vernon Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338 on Friday, April 14, 2023 with visitation at 12:15pm and the service at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Dunwoody Baptist Church Building Fund.
