James "Jim" Millard Jernigan James "Jim" Millard Jernigan, 72, of Canton, Georgia passed away on Feb. 17, 2019 after a brief illness from endocarditis. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Jim was born to parents Jimmy and Jeanette Jernigan on Jan. 17, 1947 in Waycross, Georgia. He graduated from Ware County High School and then attended South Georgia College in Douglas. Most of his career was spent in retail at JC Penney, Davidson's and Rich's. His love for the outdoors led him to become a landscaper for several years. His greatest love was his service at Westminster Oaks Retirement Home where he enjoyed the companionship of the residents and assisted them with displaying their art on the walls. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Charlotte; his daughters Jeanne Baldini (Rickie), Joanna O'Neill (Geoff) and Brandie Varasi (Philip Jones); his beloved grandchildren Jakob, Savannah, Stefani and Samantha; his brothers Canty Jernigan (Carolyn), Timmy Jernigan (Sherry); and his nieces and nephews Jeff, Callie, Kendall, Matt and Julie. To have met Jim was to know Jim. He never met a stranger in his entire life. He was known for his love of music, playing guitar and fixing anything that was broken. He was truly a "Jim of all trades." He loved tending to his vegetable garden and was known for his famous boiled peanuts. His happy place was spending time with his family and friends while relaxing on Pensacola Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Gulf Island National Seashore in Pensacola, Florida. His family will have a Celebration of Life ceremony June 8, 2019 in Pensacola Beach. The family will be meeting at the Paradise Inn. As Jim would say, "That sounds like a plan!"
