Janet Suckow Davis, age 69, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family in Roswell, Georgia on March 1st, 2023.
Jan was born in Franklin, Indiana on the 22nd of August, 1953, to Robert and Nondas Suckow. Jan and her family moved to Indianapolis when she was 7 and graduated from North Central High School in 1971. She attended the University of Evansville, and started her career with Baker & Daniels on December 7, 1981. Her career there spanned 41 years before retiring on January 31st, 2023.
Jan is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Katie, her sister, Pam Carpenter, two nieces, Lauren and Emily, and her pets, Rico and Sparky. She was preceded in death by her parents and her adored dachshunds, Krista and Sophie. Jan shared her love of animals by volunteering at the Humane Society and visiting animal sanctuaries while traveling. She especially loved spending time at the beach, and with her grand-pets, Mera, Willow, Chickadee, and the chickens. Jan loved gardening, and particularly loved shopping for and growing hostas. It wouldn’t be unusual to find her at Sullivan Hardware & Garden wandering the garden section for hours just to see all the new perennials. If you were one of the lucky few, you were on her list for her delicious holiday cookies and chex mix. Jan spent weeks in the holiday season making a variety of holiday cookies, and lovingly shared them with her colleagues and their families.
Jan always had a kind and friendly word to offer, and never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need. She was a kind and compassionate woman, with a love for all living things.
Memorial contributions can be made in Jan’s honor to the American Cancer Society. There are currently no plans for a service. If that changes, we will share that information.
May Jan’s memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
