Jean Gulick Stewart

August 16, 1935 — March 30, 2024

Jean G. Stewart was born August 16, 1935 in Tampa, FL and peacefully went home to be with her Lord on March 30, 2024 at her home at The Retreat at Conyers. She grew up in Tampa until she left to attend Tift College in Forsyth, GA where she met C.C. Lynch, Jr. who was attending Mercer University. They married in 1956 and moved to Louisville, KY for C.C. to attend Southern Baptist Seminary.

Following seminary, they pastored in Ray City, GA for about three years and then Smyrna, GA for another two years. After C.C was killed in a car accident in December 1964, Jean, already mother of three young boys and expecting another, moved back to Tampa. There she returned to college, graduating from the University of Tampa with a BA in Childhood Education.

Family and children were important to Jean. Over the years, she taught many students ranging from preschool to 2nd grade in Florida and Texas. She also enjoyed working with children on Sunday mornings at church. Jean loved sports, participating in the Kerrville (TX) Trailblazers walking group and the Senior Games in Kerrville during the 1990s.

Jean has struggled with the slow decline due to Alzheimer’s for many years. The family appreciates all the loving care of Jean given by the staff and residents at The Retreat at Conyers since 2018, especially those in the Memory Care community where she has lived the last 3 ½ years.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Mildred Gulick; step-mother, Mary Gulick; husband, Rev. C.C. Lynch, Jr,; and sons, Steven Lynch and Harvey Lynch. She is survived by sons, Cy Lynch (Barbara Koll) and Ralph Lynch (Kelly); daughter, Cathy Clark (Reggie); brother, Gilbert Gulick and sister, Judy Stephenson (Robert); grandchildren, Abby Pump (Josiah), Caleb Lynch, Beka Lynch, Ana Lynch, Kiauna Clark, Da’Raun Clark and Tre’vaun Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 7 at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary at Trinity Baptist Church, 301 Honey Creek Road, Conyers, GA, 30094, Rev. Cy Lynch officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jeans's memory to Trinity Baptist Church, 301 Honey Creek Road, Conyers, GA 30094.
