Jean Ruth Castleberry Stone, 82, of Ringgold, GA, went to her heavenly home on July 12, 2021. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elliott Stone, and her parents, Larnce and Lucy Castleberry of Rising Fawn, GA, and brothers Lee Roy and Glen Thomas Castleberry. She is survived by children Angela Stone, Sherry Stone Blackmon, Charles Christopher “Chris” Stone, and granddaughters Kelly Blackmon, Grace Elizabeth Stone, and Faith Marie Stone, sister Grace (Martin) Shrader, brother Rev. Bill (Betty Ruth) Castleberry, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean was born at Rising Fawn, GA, and attended Ider High School and Dalton College. A long-time member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church, she was actively serving as a deacon. She volunteered for more than three decades at Hutchison Medical Center and later CHI Memorial Auxiliary. Jean was an outstanding homemaker, gardener, and crafter. She loved entertaining family and friends in her home. Jean touched many lives doing for others even while taking chemo. Private services by the family will be held later at the Deer Head Cove Cemetery in Flat Rock, AL. Memorial contributions can be made to the Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church “Free to Be” Building Fund, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
