Jeffrey Hayden Salyer

Jeffery (Jeff) Hayden Salyer husband, father, brother, uncle, coach, and true friend to many passed away after a brief battle with cancer on January 4th, 2023. He was born on April 17, 1959, to John Howard and Mildred Warren Salyer in Lexington KY.

Jeff is survived by his wife Ellen Koltun and their children John Koltun (23), and Jenna Katherine (21).

Jeff grew up in Marietta, Ga and graduated from Wheeler High School in 1977. He also attended the Naval Academy and Graduated from University of Georgia in 1982. He worked in Rockville, MD with the Hewlett Packard company. Jeff returned to Marietta in 1991 with Hewlett Packard when he met Ellen Koltun. Ellen and Jeff were married in 1997. Some of Jeffs favorite times he enjoyed was spending time with family and friends at various sporting events most of them at the amateur level.

He cherished family events either teaching people to ski at the lake or taking them hunting at Butler. His quick wit and sharp mind made him popular at trivia or any many other games. You could expect a smart comment or an ingenious prank if you were not careful. Many friends just remember Jeff’s great smile and his belly gut laugh. He was a great volunteer and supporter of the various activities that John and Jenna participated in.

He is also survived by his brother Scott (Donna) their children Hayden (Abby), Hunter, Sister Alison Bagwell (John) their children Catlin, Lindsey, Juliana, Josh. His Sister-in-Law Patty Calamari (Tommy) their children Chris (Monica) Calamari, Sarah (Michael) Schilling, Ashley (Chris) Stanzel, Karen Lovett, her children Brad, Paige. And his Stepmother Terri Salyer and her children Tracey (Mike) Jenkins, Tanya (Eric) Hardy.
